My father recieved a spam email with my whole name from his yahoo account?

Please please tell me if there's something wrong with yahoo; I haven't sent an email of any sort for months and my dad just gets a weird pill spam messaged to him with my name?? 0.0 what the heck is going on?My father recieved a spam email with my whole name from his yahoo account?
This has been happening to both Yahoo and Hotmail accounts, but even more so recently. Spammers might just be faking or 'spoofing' your account name - they have programs to generate random addresses. Your address may have been found in someone else's infected computer's address book or saved mails way down a line of forwarded mail, and is being used by spammers. Some new malware can install itself just by opening it, without even clicking a link! (It only takes a few hours to crack an 8-character password!) If the mail goes to your Contacts list, you have had your account hacked, and would need to run several anti-malware programs in Safe Mode.

If none of these mails show in your Sent folder, it is not likely your own computer that is infected. Deleting your account will NOT stop this spam - once the spammers have the address, they will continue to use it for a while.

1. Check that the alternate e-mail address is still yours (Change it!), and then change both your password AND your secret questions and answers. Make them unique and strong ones!

2. Apologize, and warn all your contacts NOT to open short e-mails, especially those with no subject, and definitely not to click any links. Set up an alternate 'alias' account to use instead. This allows you to use a different address for sending, but still keep all saved mails and contacts and the first address active too for incoming mail. Your friends can trust this new address.
