Spam emails are being sent from my Yahoo email account?

People in my address book have been getting spam emails from my Yahoo email account. Is my account hacked? Is it a virus? What can I do?Spam emails are being sent from my Yahoo email account?
change your password or close the account and open a new one. But write down the email address of your friends first so you can reconnect with them on the new account.

yes it does sound like your account was hacked.

Has anyone ever made spaghetti with SPAM?

have any of you tried spaghetti but instead of using meatballs or ground beef its made with spam? i know someone who makes that but i think its nasty is there anybody else who uses that recipe? or what do you think of that?Has anyone ever made spaghetti with SPAM?
My dad tried to pull that one on us when I was little, with alfredo sauce!!

After alot of b!thchin' and moanin' we chucked it and ordered pizza. He had many of these recipe gems...

Ah, memories...
all i have to say is thats good really good i have made that beforHas anyone ever made spaghetti with SPAM?
that's gross

they must be retards
yes!thats good cut them in cubes..but add some sugar in your spag...like filipino spag!Has anyone ever made spaghetti with SPAM?
No, I can't say that I have.... I don't think that sounds too appealing. Ground beef or Italian Sausage is what I use. Almost curious to try it to see if the kids would eat it, lol.
Being an Italian myself, I must say, "That's just wrong...."
not me, but to which their own
Excuse me while I vomit, is what I think. I'm making spaghetti bog for dinner and I am using the best quality mince on the market as I don't eat meat often.

I bet it tastes a lot better than SPAM yuk!!!!
Nope, I've never thought of using spam instead of meatballs. But I did make spam stew (sliced spam instead of meat). Us ppl in Hawaii love spam like steak. We use alot of spam. Spam musubi is good for the beaches, pools, and small picnics.
Oh yes. I fried it with Catup, onion %26amp; bit of sugar, extremely easy prepare meal.

p.s. I also add hot dog into my fried rice.
I have not tried that, but it sounds like a good camping recipe.
Boil the spam in Dr Pepper first to remove the salt. Then cube it and you will be surprised.. Also use Italian sausage slided on an angle one inch thick.

What determines what emails go to spam folders?

Is it the amount of recipients on the list?

I'm about to send out an important email to all my friends, over a hundred in my address book probably. If I do it all at once, will it go to spam folders? How do I avoid this?

It's a personal email, not fwded crap or an advertisement...I just need to tell something to a lot of people. What determines what emails go to spam folders?
It all depends on their spam settings, but as long as they have your e-mail saved then it will go to their inbox.

What is up with yahoo sending spam emails to my contact list?

About once or twice a week spam emails go out to everyone in my contact list as me being the sender. i have some pretty upset friends and family about the trash. Some advice would be nice! What is up with yahoo sending spam emails to my contact list?
Your account got compromised. First change your password. Account help.http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/acct/in鈥?/a> for just about anything to do with your account. Then run anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Should be fine then. What is up with yahoo sending spam emails to my contact list?
Usually the spammer has obtained the password with phishing spam. Change the password. While you are in your account settings check for tampering with your alternate contact email address . The spammer could use that to obtain new passwords.

Abstain from clicking links within spam. Some can run malicious scripts that instruct logged in webmail to spam the address book.

What happens when you click the "spam" button on your e-mail?

It's interesting. On my yahoo e-mail I have a choice to click delete, spam, mark and move.I do know what delete is, but I am afraid to try the other three buttons because I do not know what they do. Can someone out there explain them to me? ThanksWhat happens when you click the "spam" button on your e-mail?
The "spam" button:

IF you get any emails in your inbox, that you consider to be spam---like Nigerian lotteries, or Viagra (other porn )advertisements, etc.----just click little box in front of them (not opening them), and then click the "spam" button. That tells Yahoo that they are unwanted spam. Yahoo will move them to your spam folder, and delete them after a while. Any others from that address will be delivered to the spam folder---and not your inbox.

The "Mark" button:

Click the little down arrow next to it and a drop menu appears with several items. They are self explanatory.

The "Move" button:

This is used if you want to move one of the emails out of the inbox and into a personal folder that you have set up for special emails.

Click on the email you want to move---then click the down arrow, and a drop menu appears. Click on the folder name that you want the email to go to.What happens when you click the "spam" button on your e-mail?
Spam is the area where it's more like soliciting mail

Inbox is your mail with a little less sapm

Outbox is mail you sent out to people

All of these mail areas can be deleted by you.

  • My Yahoo email address is being spoofed and used to send spam email?

After talking to the IT guy in my office, I realized my Yahoo email has been spoofed. Someone is sending spam email to people, and using my Yahoo email address as the "from" address. What can I do about it?My Yahoo email address is being spoofed and used to send spam email?
Sounds like your E-mail account has been compromised, or you picked up a virus, Eric.

Immediately have your computer checked for a 'bug' or 'bugs.' If you have the proper programs, do the scans yourself, if not you need to take your computer to some one who can.

Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet.

I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also.

After you finish this, then go in and change your password, using a good strong one.

Also, check your account information and make sure no information was changed, if it was change it back immediately. My Yahoo email address is being spoofed and used to send spam email?
While it is certainly possible that some scumbag has hi-jacked your account, it is more likely that someone has just collected a contact list and is sending out their own spam to that list and injecting your name as the 'sender'. Check your 'sent' folder just to be sure.

Does it really do any good to report spam anymore and what is the best organization to report spam to?

How come the spam wars seem to mirror our terror wars. Lots of promises and effort, but no real signs of victory.Does it really do any good to report spam anymore and what is the best organization to report spam to?
Most spammers are paid for the number of times the email is delivered. So it doesn't even have to reach you for them to get returns. Meaning, as long as it gets to your email server it's okay. If you have junk filters running, this does nothing to curb future bombardments, only to prevent you from seeing the current ones.

Reporting them can be effective, but it requires time and effort to do properly and then many other people have to report the same person before any real action is taken.

The ISPs and other organizations are fighting this problem hard, so I'd say your best bet is to contact them, ask what you can do (if anything) and just get the best junk filter you can find.
doesnt seem to make a difference - everytime a bad site is shut down, there are dozens more that crop up...Does it really do any good to report spam anymore and what is the best organization to report spam to?
yeap yahoo beta mail is great like my spam has dropped to one a week so report it makes it harder for them anyway
The only place you can report spam to is the host of the spam (internet host of site originating the spam). The internet host can shut the site down. Though, these sites are shut down constantly and reappear as another name within hours. And 10 new spammers join them. That is if the internet host even cares that it's servers are hosting a spammer, some don't.Does it really do any good to report spam anymore and what is the best organization to report spam to?
There will never be an end to SPAM. They do NOTHING about it, so I have no clue as to why they won't put a stop to it. We will always have SPAM to deal with.
Because the people who seek to make life worse are on the offensive all of the time, and they are quite clever. Make sure that you are using all of the various safeguards that Yahoo and other email providers allow, because I don't get much spam, and it has been some time since my identity was stolen. If you run across something illegal:

http://www.ic3.gov is the FBI, internet crime reporting.

It is still possible to have a good internet experience, but, as in other parts of life, you must be vigilant!

    Take Care!
    LOL
no i still get msgs i reported as spam in my email even after i did that
reply back with an email bomb. If they want your info give them a virus attachment and say info enclosed. what they are doing is illegal so why not retaliate
There MUST be something, probably with microsoft (bill gates) or with the government
You can report to your Internet provider but chances are they can 't do much . I reported to them about all the investment and Viagra crap I receive every day ( like about 10 emails a day ) and they tell me they are looking for ways to block these meat heads but I would say they are not having any luck .
doesnt seem to make a difference but I keep reporting it anyway
no it doesn't. not in my experience.
    Yes, try this company.

SpamCop is the premier service for reporting spam. SpamCop determines the origin of unwanted email and reports it to the relevant Internet service providers.
    yes
I report it on Yahoo for sure, and block on cable
To be effective individually, report spam to your E- mail provider. They have the ability to prevent them from bother you in the future. This isn't any help for other victims of "spammer", though it will likley help you with unwanted E-mail.
No, it doesn't seem to work for reporting spam. They just use a different address. Reporting just blocks that one particular address. The best thing is not to open an spam email. Just report as spam so that address is blocked.
I have found that in the last three months or so, spam has become much worse for me. I don't seem to get many on my yahoo mail but my other e-mail gets 5 or more per day and my work e-mail gets 10 - 20 per day and that is on a system with an entire computer tech department! When I send e-jokes to friends, I have a little spiel at the beginning of the joke telling them to please remove my address before they forward the joke, in order to cut down on the spam mail that is generated from those who mine e-mail addresses. I also only use bcc when I forward jokes to people so the addresses of the people I send to does not show. I hate spam and wish there was a way to stop it, too.
Report it to Hormel since they make SPAM.
I think it is a waste of time to report spam. I get over 100 pieces of spam daily and every day I report them yet they continue. Yes, I use a spam blocker.
I haven't found anything site that actually helps with spam - if you do let me know - thanks and good luck!@
I started getting one spam every day, then it was doubling every day I found two IP addresses and blocked them on my server, never get SPAMS again from those 2 IP addresses. They both were from Russia. Well its not possible to block IP address on services like hotmail etc. I guess they can do so.
    Nope..

    Just ignore it...
I use spam-fighter it puts them all in a nice folder so they don't go in my in-box. And any that get missed I just black list them. but I think the Viagra ones come in by about 40 a day.
I should report spam to your server and remember there are times people don't know if they are spamming.
Like many things in life, it is an ongoing effort, to achieve victory.

I highly recommend that you always report SPAM, or at least do what you can to prevent it from reaching you again.

3 Basic Tips to Fight Against SPAMMERS:

    # 1 - Always report it to your internet mail provider; like yahoo.com

    # 2 - Create rules and filters in email options, to automatically delete similar emails, or a particular spammer

    # 3 - Forward spam directly to the Commission, at SPAM@UCE.GOV, when spammer may be committing fraud-related crimes, and who is a threat to others safety online
I keep getting spam from the NRA and I've reported it several times. Still keeps coming. So, as far as I'm concerned, it does no good.
spam@uce.gov but I usually delete them now. I dont even bother, I got so many letters once from the nigeria scam I was applying for a work at home position, somehow the scam artist got my email. I recieved 20-30 scam letters a day called consumer reports and they said to report it to what I gave you oh well it didnt do any good except let them know, and the scam artists sent me a virus, and I had to get my computer restored so now I think it is safer to just delete and not open them. good luck
    Good Morning,

I am responding to your question in the strictest way. No, it usually does no good to report spam in fact it usually does more harm. An exception to that is your ISP; Hotmail for example asks you to identify a unknown writer as junk or good. That is a good idea might not help on the amount of mail you get but will automatically sort your mail. I don't meant to insinuate that the ISP's aren't doing something about spam as they are but there is only so much they can do. But if you get mail asking if you want to have your name removed do not respond. Some of the major companies will remove your name but you cannot be sure what you are dealing with. Many companies send out emails and when you respond to buy they win; if you don't buy but ask then to remove your name they win they know that address is good. many times when you write a company they capture your information. Another favorite tricks is a group mailing say a joke they pick up all the names and add them to their rosters. I have two addresses one at Hotmail for free , when I order something, send out a joke, misc; the other is at my ISP and it is personal emails (friends %26amp; family). God Bless You and the Southern People.
I spam something every day on YAHOO MAIL, and I still get spam; especially from peoples names. I also get spam with ham and spam with eggs and ham and spam, spam,spam...
