Why do my Google results keep redirecting me to spam sites?

Every time I type in a search term and click on a result (on both IE9 and Chrome) it redirects me to a spam site. I've run scans with Symantec Endpoint, and it has repeatedly detected and deleted an item, but it doesn't fix the issue. Scanning it again keeps finding and deleting the same file, as if it keeps reappearing. What is going on here? Help! Why do my Google results keep redirecting me to spam sites?
You have spyware/virus/malaware what ever you want to call it, you need to get rid of it.

These top scanners should get rid of it

Make sure %26amp; only download the free versions (unless you actually want to pay for them)

After you install them then update them, then do a full system scan. Why do my Google results keep redirecting me to spam sites?
You have the Google Redirect Virus.
