How to rid of my inbox of unwanted spam mails ?

Every time, i open my yahoo email inbox, I find dozens of spam messages, and it takes a lot of time to delete it (though I know, they will themselves get away after a period). My difficulty is to spot the message intended for me from my contacts only. At the OPTIONS , there is no way to provide for an option to receive emails only from my contacts.

What is then the way out? Is closing the email id the last way or the only way !!How to rid of my inbox of unwanted spam mails ?

Go to options and click block address, and enter the mail ID which you feel, you do not want to get again. This will help you to restrict a mail from a user.
