What should you do when you get facebook spam?

I have just got a hateful post from someone which is spam, and my other friends have been telling me that i've been sending it out as well. How does this happen? Have i been hacked? Should i reset my password?What should you do when you get facebook spam?
Just click the X and report it. Then click the X again and click, "mark as spam" and it will disappear off your wall. It's been happening to all my friends today. It's like floods and floods of spam.

It's from using the apps and clicking on spam to begin with. The only thing you can do is nothing. Just stop using apps and dot click anything extra on the site.
Everyone is getting it, facebook has been hatched or something!
