How to fix spam email from yahoo account?

my yahoo account is sending out spam emails from my address book. I ran antivirus on the computer and cleared out what I thought was the problem, but the spam emails happened again. Any ideas? How to fix spam email from yahoo account?
1. Change your password!!!!!! While at it, also update your security questions and make your secondary email contact other than Yahoo/Hotmail-%26gt; use Google's gmail. When you change your password, Yahoo/Hotmail re-encrypts your session cookie based off that new password. Since the hackers still have your old cookie and with your password not changed, they still can send out emails without you knowing.

2. Do not click on emails that you do not know or go to websites that have these scripts that will steal your current cookies to access your accounts. How do you know if they have these scripts? You don't. That's why you don't open them. If you do click on them, you will need to change your password again.

3. Do a virus scan just in case but most likely they will NOT show up since it is NOT a worm/virus for your case. But, do a scan just in case to eliminate that possibility.

4. You can try to contact Yahoo/Hotmail, but like many have said, they won't do anything.

5. Always log out of your email when finished and never click on "Keep me logged in" check box to clear out the cookie

6. Make it a habit to CLEAN out your web browser cookies, since ANY site can have these security exploits without you knowing!!!!!

7. Export your contact list as a backup since some hackers are getting bolder and will delete all of them.

I did all these steps above and the emails have stop going out.

To Yahoo/Hotmail engineers/staff reading this: You should consider encrypting the current IP address within the cookie to ensure that whoever is using it, IS AT the current IP address and if not have the person re-log in with their ID and password to gain access. How to fix spam email from yahoo account?
Change your password, also change your security questions and secret answers - according to Yahoo that should take care of the problem in most cases.

Is it illegal to sign people up for spam?

There are people that use their own email addresses and send me spam about dating services, and what not. Is it illegal if I sign them up for spam, like newsletters and what not, to give them a taste of their own medicine? Is it illegal to sign people up for spam?
its not illegal their giving you their email so that's like if they give you their phone number all you have to do is give it to someone else and then the other person can call that number it works the same way with spam

The CAN-SPAM Act doesn't apply to the person giving emails out to the spammers it applies to the spammers

and if you sign them up for spam that is illegal for the spammers to send doesn't mean you or the person getting spam can get fined or go to jailIs it illegal to sign people up for spam?
Yes it is still illegal because they haven't asked for it.

Spam is illegal but many people are still receiving messages because people don't care about the laws, and also because not all of these messages are technically spam. There are a list of guidelines which should be followed when sending emails. This includes not having misleading information in the header information.

Spam is actually unsolicited email and this means that people are still allowed to send out junk email that you have requested. If you put your name on a mailing list then this doesn't count as spam. It's very easy to get added onto mailing lists and as a result you probably have lots of newsletters in your mailbox right now.

Whenever you sign up for anything on the internet there is a box to say whether or not you want to receive communication from them. If you agree then that company is allowed to send you emails. This is not spam because they have already asked permission to contact you. It's important that you read everything you do on the internet.

However, even these newsletters that you have requested must have opt-out links in them somewhere. These links are used to take your name off the mailing list so that you can stop receiving the email at any time. To be in compliance of the laws these links must appear in the emails and be accessible.

According to the Can-Spam act, there are a number of consequences for anyone found guilty of sending spam emails. This can even get you in prison in some cases. The act allows up to $11,000 in fines per email sent which should go a long way to stop the problem. The act is normally only used against the most notorious spammers although it can be enforced against anyone.

There is a database of all complaints available on the FTC website and you can also submit complaints there. Alternatively you can forward any spam you received to spam@uce.govIs it illegal to sign people up for spam?
I think it depends, its like give or take.

but spam is illegal i believe.

Some1 just used my email account to send spam and then deleted all of my emails and contacts. What do I do?

Someone sent a mass spam email to all of my old contacts and then deleted all of my email and contacts so now I can't even email everyone telling them to ignore the spam mail. Is there anything I can do?Some1 just used my email account to send spam and then deleted all of my emails and contacts. What do I do?
You cant do anyting because you fell for a phishing scam and somehow gave the scammers your login and password details. There is no way to recover this once the hackers take it over and change your password or delete your contacts. All you can do is if you are in contact with people in Facebook or some other site is inform them there your acct was hacked and open a new email

What do i do so that all the spam coming is stopped forever?

I already get 150 spam a day. What do i do such that i dont get any spam? What do i do so that all the spam coming is stopped forever?
Open a new e-mail account and only give your e-mail address to people you know. You can also give your e-mail address to companies you know that are realible and won't send you spam. When in doubt, do NOT give your new e-mail address out. Keep your old e-mail address for junk mail and to sign-up for sites you don't know or think they are not realible.

How do I know if Spam (the canned meat not junk mail) is bad?

I opened a can of Spam 2 weeks ago, put it in a bowl and covered it with seran wrap. Obviously I forgot all about it. I just found it and dont want to waste it if I dont have to. It smells ok and I seen no green. What do you think? How do I know if Spam (the canned meat not junk mail) is bad?
if it was in the fridge the whole time it should be fine. spam can last years on the shelf
If it was not stored in a fridge, I advise against eating it. Anything removed from a can but not required immediately should be stored in a covered container in the fridge until needed. If it is a solid object - like spam or corned beef, wrapping it in clingfilm also helps to maintain freshnessHow do I know if Spam (the canned meat not junk mail) is bad?
Mash it up in the bowl add any left overs you have in the fridge then cover with some mixed Gravox (gravy mix). Once all this is gone and it looks good enough to eat, FEED IT TO YOUR DOG.

LIL
No, cooked refrigerated meat is good for 3-5 days only. How do I know if Spam (the canned meat not junk mail) is bad?
I would throw it out or feed it to your dog ( if you have one ) if you want some spam go out and get some fresh.
it will be okay to eat because spam has a lot of preservatives, so it wont easily go bad.
Throw it away.

It's better to be safe than sorry over a can of Spam.

Purchase a new can.
Throw it out and DON'T feed it to your dog. the dog will get sick just like you.
Its been in the refrigerator too long, go ahead and throw it out. I wouldn't try and eat it at this point.
chuck it
toss it. you shouldn't eat it after this long

I already went into tools and increased the junk email filter from medium to high but everything still gets through into my in box, even the most obvious spam. Is this a bug from system restore? Unfortunately, when you did the system restore it sets everything to very low settings. So do the following steps and it should work:

    Tools -%26gt;Options -%26gt; Junk E-mail

From there make sure you are on Low or high on your filter.

How do I report to you what I think is SPAM using my email address?

I am getting dozens of emails returned as unable to deliver to addresses I do not know. I did not send an email to these addresses and I suspect that someone is using my email address to SPAM other people or to greatly annoy me. How do I report this to Yahoo or stop it?How do I report to you what I think is SPAM using my email address?
Short answer, there is nothing anyone can do about it. Hopefully, it'll go away soon. If not, you'll have to get a new email address.

I'm going fishing and was asked to get some luncheon meat to catch some carp but came back with spam... Does it make a difference? This may sound stupid but what is the difference between spam and luncheon meat?
Spam is a canned meat (spiced ham) and luncheon meat (bologna) is fresh.

I don't think the fish will be able to tell the difference, and the Spam may actually spread through the water to tempt the fish better.

What happens in Yahoo Mail when you mark items as spam?

It doesn't seem to block that person from sending you more mail. I know you can block them manually in the mail options, but what is the point in sending it to the spam folder if it doesn't do anything? What happens in Yahoo Mail when you mark items as spam?
Unfortunately, most spam is sent in disguise, with the From name spoofed (fake), and the ISP address detoured. Even using full headers and blocking many spam sites will not block the major spam offenders once they change the site they are routing from - but it does help. It's better than doing nothing at all.

Never EVER open spam, even to copy to report it ... some spam contains malware that can infect a computer even without clicking a link in the mail, or notifies the spammer that yours is a valid address. They will then send even more spam, or worse - sell that address to other spammers too! What happens in Yahoo Mail when you mark items as spam?

How do I remove emails addresses off my spam mail list?

My spam automatically filters anything that it "suspects" to be spam, unfortunately anything I receive from University of Virginia is considered "spam" and I want that to come to my inbox. If you find the email in your spam folder just open it up.. when you do this NOT SPAM will appear above the text area...Click on that and any subsequent email from this person will go to your inbox.

Best way to do this is to have that person send you an email so you know when to check your spam folder.

If you can't accomplish that click on OPTIONS (upper right on your email page) then MAIL OPTIONS...go to the left side of the screen and click on SPAM. Once in go to the BLOCKED EMAIL ADDRESSES box and find his address. They are in alphabetical order. Once you find it just click on it which will hilight it. Then click on REMOVE...then go above and click on SAVE CHANGES...that should do it....good luckHow do I remove emails addresses off my spam mail list?
Go into the 'spam' folder and check mark the item you wish to keep. Click on the 'Not spam' button and it will be returned to your in box, also allowing that address to be delivered to the in box from now on. However, go in periodically and check to insure all items are spam.

Also, make sure that address is in your address book, as it helps to ensure that address as a "safe" one.

I would really appreciate your help ASAP as I need to send out invitations for an event within the hour (12pm July 14 2010). It's not a problem with your account---instead it's with your recipients accounts.

You said it's a "new" account------so my guess would be that your recipients don't have your "new" address entered into their Contact List (address book) yet-----AND until they do that, it's "likely" their accounts will send anything coming from you to their Spam folder.

How much Harmful it is to respond a Spam?

I received some emails stating that he/she is a bank manager and his/her bank has an account which owner has died and he/she want to share that account's money with me or "you are a winner" although i never participated in any contest. What about these kind of emails? And How much Harmful it is to respond a spam? Plz answer BOTH questions. How much Harmful it is to respond a Spam?
If you respond to this you will be very sorry. There will be a cookie that will trace your online movements at best. At worst they will clean out any and all accounts you have.

Never and I do mean never open a spam letter. Delete and move on.
    Extremely harmful!

One, the E-mail is a scam to get your personal information and/or your money, or both!

    Do not respond to it.

Report it, forward it to the FTC at spam@uce.gov and to the abuse desk of the sender's ISP.

For yahoo, report them here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya鈥?/a>

Choose Fraud as the reason for the violation you're reporting on.

Also, if the E-mail appears to be impersonating a bank or other company or organization, forward the message to the actual organization.

And for your E-mail safety, remember:

Do not ever open E-mail from people you do not know; and unless you are absolutely sure who it is from then treat them as spam.

Opening spam alerts the sender that your address is a valid one and they send you loads and loads more of it to you.

Never, ever give out your personal information to anyone, for any reason, whether by E-mail, snail mail, phone call, or at your front door.

And do not ever send money, checks or money orders to; or cash checks, money orders for any one - ever.

In addition, it is possible that a link in those E-mail can cause harm to your computer in some cases the E-mail itself is infected. This can give you untold headaches, and possibly cost you money in repairs. How much Harmful it is to respond a Spam?
both are complete scams, when you respond to one you are pretty much selling you soul to the devil, they can charge you for all the stuff you "won" and most likely they will charge you for it and the bank thing Come on! Some random person dying and wanting to share there wealth with some random stranger intead of sharing it with there family? I think you should just stay away from spam letters there a load of Crap..
Two things here - one is it establishes your e-mail address as a viable account so you will continue to receive more. At some point they will ask for your bank account details - DO NOT reveal these - as you are likley to be a victim of ID theft. (Such activities are known as phishing).

The actual response probably won't cause harm - there are much more devious ways of getting control of your computer which is why you need to keep your virus anti-malware etc up to date. But if something souinds too good to be true - then that is what it is. If you get something p[urportig to be from a bank but you know you don't have an accout - you should delete without opening. How much Harmful it is to respond a Spam?
NEVER SHARE ANY PERSONAL/ACCOUNT INFORMATION ONLINE! They can and will try to access your accounts to take YOUR MONEY! Here is a way to spam the spammers back, just try to publicly post any and all blocked emails from an exported blocked list in Outlook.

  • What's the difference between "spam" and "pfishing?"?

Yahoo has a place where you can report abuse. You can check, 'I think this answer is abuse because it violates community guidelines." The violations listed in this category includes "spam."

OR you can check 'I think this answer is abuse because it is illegal.' The list in this second check box includes "pfishing."

So I never know which box to check because I thought spam and pfishing meant the same thing.

So what exactly is the difference between "spam" and "pfishing?"

Thanks. What's the difference between "spam" and "pfishing?"?
Spam is trying to give you information you never asked for so somebody can sell you something you don't need or want. If you need it and want it, the advert is called narrowcasting, not spam, and it's based on data mining. They know what you want, from your past conduct, which they have mined and analysed.

Phishing is trying to extract private information about you, that you really should not disclose to people you don't know or have any reason to trust. Could you just please teel your birthday? How about you bank account number? Or your SSN? Or your friends list? Or your e-mail contacts. Or your last 1000 keystrokes you typed on your computer?

Short Answer: The difference is the direction the information is intended to flow -- spam is them to you --- phishing is you to them. What's the difference between "spam" and "pfishing?"?
Spam is advertising, trying to get you to buy something.

Phishing is attempting to get you to disclose details such as passwords, usernames etc by deception. What's the difference between "spam" and "pfishing?"?
Spam is pointless/meaningless posts or posts with the sole intent to advertise without a question.

"Phishing" (not pfishing) is when someone tries to steal your information (credit card etc) by giving you, for example, a fake website, or a fake e-mail.

How to email without it marked as spam?

I emailed my info and attached my video for my audition. I wanted to make sure that they'll get it, so I forward it to my other email. However, when I check it, it was in my spam folder. I was wondering if they company will receive it as spam also or is it just because I forward it? What should I do if they most likely received it as a spam? How to email without it marked as spam?
Your mail goes into the spam box, because it has the look of spam; and if that is the case, there is nothing you can do, but hope they check their spam box frequently.

How to rid of my inbox of unwanted spam mails ?

Every time, i open my yahoo email inbox, I find dozens of spam messages, and it takes a lot of time to delete it (though I know, they will themselves get away after a period). My difficulty is to spot the message intended for me from my contacts only. At the OPTIONS , there is no way to provide for an option to receive emails only from my contacts.

What is then the way out? Is closing the email id the last way or the only way !!How to rid of my inbox of unwanted spam mails ?
the easiest way is to add the legit emails to your address book. that way, emails coming from them will appear in your inbox instead of the spam folder. How to rid of my inbox of unwanted spam mails ?

What is Spam Mail? How can it harm my computer or my mail box? How Spamers earn money by sending it?

What is the game of Spam Mails. Everybody says that one should not open it, as it may harm the computer %26amp; mail A/c. it is also said that spamers earns a lot of money by sending this type of mails. As soon as one click it to open spamers get money. From where they get money? What is Spam Mail? How can it harm my computer or my mail box? How Spamers earn money by sending it?
Aint nuthin but advertisements. They make their mony on people who purchase the product. They arent harmful, just annoying
Spammers do not get money because you opened the email. There are different types of fraudulent email, spam is just one of them, although you will hear people refer to any bad emails as spam. If you click on a link in such an email it can confirm to the sender that its a real email address, chances are they sent the same email to lots of random addresses. They can then sell your email address to various marketing companies. There are other types of "bad" emails such as money fraud, identity theft etc but emails marked as spam aren't usually harmful to your computer if you don't open any attachments or click the links :)What is Spam Mail? How can it harm my computer or my mail box? How Spamers earn money by sending it?
Unfortunately in this day and age, junk mail is going to come, no matter how hard you try. One great way to help cleanup all of this junk and spam is by using a quality spam filter.

Spam filter's have lists of known spam messages and other techniques to help filter away, and if desired, delete these unwanted emails. You also have options to safeguard known addresses, so emails from family members and family will never be touched.

There are a lot of filters out there, but many of them are junk. I highly suggest trying out SpamFighter, as I actually just read about it in a PCWorld article.

Check it out at this link: http://family-budget.info/offers/spamfighter/
E-mail spam, also known as junk e-mail, is a subset of spam that involves nearly identical messages sent to numerous recipients by e-mail. A common synonym for spam is unsolicited bulk e-mail (UBE). Definitions of spam usually include the aspects that email is unsolicited and sent in bulk.[1][2][3][4][5] "UCE" refers specifically to unsolicited commercial e-mail.

E-mail spam has steadily, even exponentially grown since the early 1990s to several billion messages a day. Spam has frustrated, confused, and annoyed e-mail users. Laws against spam have been sporadically implemented, with some being opt-out and others requiring opt in e-mail. The total volume of spam (over 100 billion emails per day as of April 2008[update]) has leveled off slightly in recent years, and is no longer growing exponentially. The amount received by most e-mail users has decreased, mostly because of better filtering. About 80% of all spam is sent by fewer than 200 spammers. Botnets, networks of virus-infected computers, are used to send about 80% of spam. Since the cost of the spam is borne mostly by the recipient[6], it is effectively postage due advertising.

E-mail addresses are collected from chatrooms, websites, newsgroups, and viruses which harvest users' address books, and are sold to other spammers. Much of spam is sent to invalid e-mail addresses. ISPs have attempted to recover the cost of spam through lawsuits against spammers, although they have been mostly unsuccessful in collecting damages despite winning in court.[7][8]What is Spam Mail? How can it harm my computer or my mail box? How Spamers earn money by sending it?
Spam is just junk mail via email.

Spammers typically get paid by how many emails they send (often as low as a few cents for thousands of emails sent). Some may get commissions for purchases, but not typically.

There are advertising companies, or the manufacturing companies themselves, that often pay spammers to send mail.
spam amil is the internet version of junk mail

you don't want t and most f the time it says you've won something you haven't entered

most email programs come with anti spam filters but they can't stop all of them if you are ever unsure DELETE the message BEFORE you open it and DO NOT open any attachments

the jerks that send this rubbish to us make money because people who are stupid take them up on the offer and pay them money to get money or pay for something that never arrives
I'm not sure about how much "spammers" get payed, but if you do get spam mail or mail from someone you don't know that has an attachment (pictures, files, folders, etc.), I suggest you don't open it. Period. This can cause a virus on your computer. (:

Your best bet will be to get a proper filtering system, rather than relying on an ISP's filter, which is pretty much useless.

Spam mail is sent from my yahoo and hotmail accounts. What might be the reason of this and how can I stop it?

From my hotmail accounts spam mails are being sent to my contacts. I tried changing the password but it continued to happen. I suppose there is something in my computer. What might be causing this and how can I prevent this fom happening.Spam mail is sent from my yahoo and hotmail accounts. What might be the reason of this and how can I stop it?
Your account got compromised. First change your password. Account help.http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/acct/in鈥?/a> for just about anything to do with your account. Then run anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Should be fine then.Spam mail is sent from my yahoo and hotmail accounts. What might be the reason of this and how can I stop it?
Sounds like your E-mail account has been compromised, or you picked up a virus.

Immediately have your computer checked for a 'bug' or 'bugs.' If you have the proper programs, do the scans yourself, if not you need to take your computer to some one who can.

Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet.

I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also.

After you finish this, then go in and change your password, using a good strong one - yes, in both of your E-mail accounts.

Also, check your account information and make sure no information was changed, if it was change it back immediately.

Then, you will have to inform your contacts that it was not you sending that mail, but they need to check their computers in case they were also infected.

What is the code you can add to your email to recognize spam?

I read somewhere awhile back about a code you can add to your email address when filling out online forms, so when you get spam you can see where it comes from. What is it?What is the code you can add to your email to recognize spam?
As far as I know, there IS no such code.

When spam enters you mail application's spam folder, you should be able to track it to its source - assuming that the sender wasn't using a proxy at the time.

If you're filling out a lot of online forms, it's best to create an email address specifically for this purpose. That way you can keep your personal account clear.

How do I send an email to myself without it going into spam?

When I send myself an email from my Yahoo email account, it goes into Spam. I am ot listed in the blocked addresses and my address is listed in my contact list. I do receive emails from others, but not from my own account. What should I do to correct this? How do I send an email to myself without it going into spam?
The simplest way to correct this is the next time you send yourself an e-mail and it ends up in the spam folder then just click it open and select/mark it "Not Spam" then it will return to your inbox.

What does it mean when a youtube comment is flagged as spam?

Someone commented on one of my videos, and it was flagged as spam. What does that mean? What does it mean when a youtube comment is flagged as spam?
A comment might be flagged as spam by users as far as I know. It doesn't necessarily mean anything specific, it just means that the comment was either unrelated to the video (an advertisement of some sort), or a comment that was innapropriate or was literally a spammed comment, i.e. posted more the once for no reason. What does it mean when a youtube comment is flagged as spam?
Spam is unwanted advertisements on a web page. youtube bots thinks your advertising and flagged it.

Has anyone noticed spam and chain letters mainly come from teenagers on youtube?

One thing I noticed on youtube is many people write stupid chain letters and spam. Chain letters contain stuff like "post this to 2 other videos" blah blah blah.

When I went to the user accounts of these chain letters a majority were in their teens or were young.

Do you notice the same thing that chain letters and spam usually come from young people or teenagers?

What do you suggest on how to fix the problem of chain letters and spam?Has anyone noticed spam and chain letters mainly come from teenagers on youtube?
mainly its people who have no idea about what is going on and how annoying it is to most people, just like alot of people who don't use antivirus software and aren't careful with what they do online don't realize they could be infected and not even know it cause the virus isn't programmed to cause trouble on their own computer but to work with a botnet to cause massive trouble elsewhere on the web and create a ton of spam. Their accounts could be hacked too, not unlike what happens on myspace and facebook when bots get ahold of the login then start spamming from that account. Just use every opportunity you get to inform people to be careful and help them understand what to look for when it comes to that kind of thing.Has anyone noticed spam and chain letters mainly come from teenagers on youtube?
I noticed that lately to. I have been watching a lot of videos and there's one on almost every video i watch. It gets annoying after a while.Has anyone noticed spam and chain letters mainly come from teenagers on youtube?

What is the best way to stop spam without changing my emal address?

I've had the same yahoo email address for years, so it has a lot tied to it. I've been getting a ton of spam lately.

What does marking as spam do besides just delete them? What is the best way to stop spam without changing my emal address?
Getting a new email address wouldn't be a solution for long. According to the anti-spam experts, we are all seeing far more spam mails now than ever before. It is because the spammers are becoming more clever about getting past the spam filters. That's why more spam is making it to the Inbox instead of going straight to the Bulk/Spam folder, and why some of your good mails are ending up in the Bulk/Spam folder. There are a few basic things we can all do to keep spam to a minimum...

    1. Spam mails that go straight to Bulk/Spam should be left there, unopened. You can empty that folder any time you want, but never NEVER open spam mails. DON'T try to unsubscribe from anything and DON'T click any links in those mails.

    2. Spam mails that land in your Inbox should be marked as Spam so that they are moved to the Bulk/Spam folder and placed on the Blocked list. (Blocking an address prevents mails from being received from that address again in the future.)

    3. Any email that you are the least bit suspicious about should be deleted immediately. Don't let curiosity get the better of you. Simply opening a spam email out of curiosity could alert the spammers that you have an active email address (they probably didn't know it before), to which they will undoubtedly send TONS of spam mail in the future. What is the best way to stop spam without changing my emal address?
It also blocks the same spammer from sending again

What to do if someone flags your youtube comments as spam for no reason?

    Hi

At least one of my youtube comments has been flagged as spam even though I never said anything inappropriate.

Is there a way to find out who is false flagging your comments or is there at least a way to stop it or claim it was false?

I'm really frustrated and angry with this problem. What to do if someone flags your youtube comments as spam for no reason?
no sorry there is unfortunately no way to tell who flagged your comment. But i would just forget about it. That person whoever flagged your comment/spammed you is just one of 'those people' on youtube. meaning the only reason they go on youtube is to spam other people and make them feel bad. please just ignore it.

How do I stop spam from being sent from my email address?

Over the last couple of weeks all of my contacts in my email account have received spam that appears to be coming from my email address. Is this a virus on one of my computers or is my password compromised? What can I do about it? This is a Yahoo email address so if you have any contact information that would be great. How do I stop spam from being sent from my email address?
This does not mean that your computer has a virus or that someone has your Yahoo! password.

What has happened is that you have given the email address out and a spammer has “hijacked” it. The spammers have special email programs that allow them to alter the header of the emails they send out so it appears as though they were sent by someone else.

It is important for you to realize that those emails were not sent by your computer even though they had your email address in the “From:” field in the email header.

Here’s a recent article entitled, “Get Rid Of The Spam And Gain Control Of Your Inbox” That should help you out:

    http://www.articledashboard.com/Article/…

In it the author recommends using disposable email addresses. This is an especially good strategy to use when giving your email address to people you do not know.

Sounds like you picked up a virus.

Immediately have your computer checked for a 'bug' or 'bugs.'

Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet.

I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also.

After you finish this, then go in and change your password, using a good strong one.

Then you have to inform all of your contacts that you did not send them those mails, the virus did, and that they need to check their computers for infection, tooHow do I stop spam from being sent from my email address?
Your system could have a virus.

So, update your virusscanner and run a complete scan.

However, since it is your Yahoo account - and yahoo is an online mail system, this is unlikely.

What could have happened is that someone knows your password.

Solution - change your password now. Make sure it`s difficult to guess for others.

So - do not use "password" (you`ll be surprised how many use this one) - but rather something with caps, normal letters, numbers and special characters. If i take 'password' as example - you can make that hard by changing letters - and create something like "P@s$w0rd"

Of course - this example should not be used.

An alternative option is that your mail address is known to spammers - and sometimes used to spoof a sender. This is not something you can do anything about (if only)

My mailbox seems to be sending spam to everyone in my contacts. How can I stop it?

I haven't been opening any spam.. and I had no clue my mailbox had sent anything until I received a few messages from my friends, wondering what the hell that is. The sent spam is not in the Sent folder. Plus, I receive it from myself, too. Anybody has any suggestions? My mailbox seems to be sending spam to everyone in my contacts. How can I stop it?
1 - Run a scan for viruses, malware and spyware. A virus scan alone is not enough. You have to use something like Malwarebytes which you can download for free

2 - After you run the scan, delete your browsing history and cookies, and empty your cache

    3 - Restart your computer

4 - Change your email password to a combination of letters and numbers

    This should stop it

Also email your friends that your account has been compromised and not to click on any links sent in these messages. If anyone clicks on the link, then the same thing will happen to their accountMy mailbox seems to be sending spam to everyone in my contacts. How can I stop it?
A couple of years ago my contacts started receiving spam, and I got "delivery failure" notices from out-of date contacts. I figure someone broke into my address book and stole all my contact addresses. I deleted my address book and now keep a list of contacts on a sheet of paper. Inconvenient, but it works. My mailbox seems to be sending spam to everyone in my contacts. How can I stop it?
Run a virus scan on your computer to see what it says, thats the only thing i can think of.

What should I do if my email address is being used to send spam?

Lately my email address has been hacked into and used to send spam emails to everyone in my address book and more. This is my main email address, what can I do to stop it from being hacked? I haven't given it away on any offers or spam sites. What should I do if my email address is being used to send spam?
At some point someone obtained your ID and password and took all your contacts. From that point on they do not need your account. Anyone with a separate email program can use any address as the FROM address. There is no way to stop this method since they already have the list. To make sure they are not actually in your account you can change your password.

What do you mean you have a lot of "data" in this address? Anything stored in your email account should be downloaded and kept, for eventually you may have to close this account. Pay attention to what Barkley Hound told you, he knows whereof he speaks! And it WON'T be fine, even if you change your password. As BH told you, whoever they are, they already have your address list. That's the big issue. What should I do if my email address is being used to send spam?
Your account got compromised. First change your password. Account help.http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/acct/in鈥?/a> for just about anything to do with your account. Then run anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Should be fine then.
Close it and open a new account.

What is the difference between a one liner and spam?

I saw a forum post that was blocked for spam, but it looked like a one liner to me... so whats the difference lol? obviously its different than i though lol, so what if the difference? What is the difference between a one liner and spam?
They could very well be one and the same. Any time something is spammed, whether in a forum...an email, etc it has to do with the way the spam filter is set up OR how an individual having the responsibility to block them views a comment as to when it is blocked. This basically means there is NO good answer as to how things are blocked.

What exactly is spam email and why do I get so much of it?

I get a lot of spam e-mails. A lot! I don't even really understand what it is and why I am getting so much of it. Why do they have such weird names and why do they always involve some kind of medication, most often viagra? What exactly is spam email and why do I get so much of it?
Spam is basically bulk mail, done electronically. It's sent out to HUGE groups of people, most of whom did not request it.

The reason you get so much of it is because you gave your email address to someone who then sold it to someone else (potentially many other companies) who are now using it in ways you never intended.
Spam is unwanted mail that you did not ask for. It can be anything from chain letters to letters of lottery wins and sob stories attempting to get your money. To most people it is a total waste of time and energy, to be avoided if at all possible. There are many ways you can start getting spam, but you can start to control it.

You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it.

First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.

Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.

Use your spam filter and block address.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options/ mail options / spam preferences

make sure spam guard is on, click on save changes

Options /mail options / blocked addresses

Enter the E-mail address you wish blocked and click on 'add block'

you will never get mail from that address again.

This should help you to control your spam.

    Other tips:

Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure who it is from.

Never give out your personal information to anyone.

If you are on a site and you absolutely have to sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you any other info, notices, catalogs, ads, and the like.

    Added detail:

Yes, spammers change one item in their addresses a lot, so you might try blocking the entire domain, by putting in

    *@ thedomainyouwanttoblock.com

    for instance: *@seeyou.com

Hope this helps. What exactly is spam email and why do I get so much of it?

In the top right hand corner of my Yahoo pages is a link to help.

The help is context specific. So find it on your mail page and check the mail help for guidance on spam.

What would you like to ask?is there a way to move spam from the spam box directly into the blocked address box?

I don't type well and it takes me a long time to add addresses to the blocked box. How can I just move them there from the spam box? What would you like to ask?is there a way to move spam from the spam box directly into the blocked address box?
No, with Yahoo you must go to the blocked address page and put it in the block. But you can copy %26amp; paste the address instead of typing it. Be sure to click Add Block then upper left click Save Changes. On the mail screen over to the right click Options, then on the list to the left click Spam. Next page you will see the block to put the address in.

How on Earth is anyone taken in by spam?

All the spam i've ever seen has been blindingly obvious, which raises two questions. Firstly, does anyone at all respond to it? It's presumably worth doing, so the answer to that must be yes, but secondly, how can anyone be so gullible? What are the actual thoughts that lead to that happening? How on Earth is anyone taken in by spam?
I saw several people on a Current Affairs show who had responded to some scam spam, they were all in their 50's and despite being ripped off many $1000's over a period of several years they were STILL hoping that the scammer was eventually going to come good with their promise of payment!!! they just didn't want to accept that they had been robbed blind.

I think some people find themselves in desperate financial circumstances and they respond in desperation because they are too stressed to think rationally and sensibly. It is very sad but the scammers sound like complete desperados too, some of them probably genuinely are very ill (or maybe I am just being gullible and they are all just pure evil).
I have wondered this myself. I have never been able to come up with an answer. Same as why people fall for that internet Nigerian scam. Some people must really be dumb. IDK How on Earth is anyone taken in by spam?
There are people in the world who are not technology-friendly.

The cost of sending Spam comes at such a low per-contact price that it does not take but a very few per million contacts responding to pay for itself. Basically, think of it this way. If it cost $100 per million email's, one would only need to have about $200 in sales to break even.

Think of how many people out of a million are gullible enough to respond and you get quite a profit!

    I hope this helps.

How on Earth is anyone taken in by spam?
I did, once. The reason was the amount they wanted to forward me was for a charity I helped, and the scammer said he was a solicitor for a deceased estate, a bequest, and the amount seemed believable, it was around seventy thousand dollars. Usually the scams they send are for millions of dollars, usually Nigerian , from an African source.

The sting went on for two or three weeks, with back and forth questions and answers, such as, what will the charity use the money for, how long has it been in existence, does it have a board , a director, all to personalise contact.

Then an email requesting banking details, and also asking for ten thousand dollars to do the legal work and then they would transfer the money into the charity account.

That was when I realised it was not genuine, and googled the name of this so called solicitor with the word scam after his name , and bingo...up came notice boards and blog comments about him, this one was indeed a well organised scam, operating from the UK, using the information from a news report about a poor soul who with his wife and children was killed in a plane crash, no heirs, to which he had given me a link to the news article. I was disappointed not to be able to help the charity, and I forwarded everything onto scamwatch.

So, my advice, if it's too good to be true it is, the first thing to do is google the name of the person scam, or lottery scam. If it's from Nigeria and begins with the salutation Dear Esteemed ...., something sickeningly polite, or Urgent Reply Needed, and "from undisclosed recipient", just delete it, and spend some time with a loved one instead of at the computer.
We were once forced to eat that whatever it was there *gags*
There is only one answer to that question: even when everyone of us tend to think that others will behave or think similarly (and that's the beginning of all wars and misconceptions that have lead us and still lead us to acts of prejudice and discrimination), well...the fact is that only a few may think "exactly" like one does. There will be terrible differences in many other subjects, but we, as human beings, try to structure everything and put everything into "groups" or "classes". We can't help it, as that's the way the human mind thinks. We need the classification in order to make sense of the world, make schemes to understand new things and make them "fit".

The thing is that schemes are not exactly the same in every human.

Haven't you realized that we have the tendency to speak with people like us, read certain books and no others, watch certain movies and no others? Because of that, we wrongly predict sometimes that our cause or political party will win, and that doesn't happen.

The same with the reaction that people have to spam: we think we would never be able to harm an animal or engage in a criminal act, and many people do exactly that. Even people who in the past thought they would never kill or steal or betray or cheat.

Some people respond to spam just because of curiosity of what they would get, others just for fun, and some will think inside (and won't tell you) "what if this is true?"...

What motivates the fools who keep giving spam answers?

It seems to me the number of spam answers to questions is on the increase. URL's are given to web pages that have nothing to do with the questions being asked, and are often just commercial come-ons. The advertisers that come on here are definitely getting their greens. They wouldn't post that pointlessly for no reason obviously other than to get money, or annoy people because they're bored little trolls.

As for replying with answers that have nothing to do with the question being asked, that's because people are bored, decide they want to go on Yahoo Answers and troll around, and to get a reaction out of people because they find that amusing.
Money. mean the spam that provides information or links to buy products or services, they aren't people... those are spam bots... a program written for the purpose of posting free advertising in hopes people will click on links or got to suggested sites. That problem is probably not caused by any type of virus or adware on your computer. At some point someone obtained your ID and password and took all your contacts. From that point on they do not need your account. Anyone with a separate email program can use any address as the FROM address. Spammers use your list and your name so people will read the spam. There is no way to stop it at this point. Change your password to keep it from happening again.

You can verify this by looking in your "sent" folder to see if copies of the email are there.

    Your computer is infected

1 - run a scan for viruses, spyware and malware. A virus scan alone is not enough. If you do not have malwarebytes, download it for free

    3 - restart your computer

4 - change your password again

    That should stop it

Is it a good idea to promote my website via spam emails?

Ca spam emails effectively promote my site and drive traffic to it? If I send spam to thousands emails daily what type of adverse effect am I exposed to? Is it possible that all emails from my site go straightly to the reciepents spam folder? Is it a good idea to promote my website via spam emails?
You need to have an unscrupulous host or the ability to move a copy of everything quickly to a new host. Many webhosts have an AUP that prohibits spamvertising (although for many that is a fake). Although most spam recipients won't bother, some will do traceroute and ARIN whois on your spamvertised domain to discover your webhost and send an abuse report. If your hosting service is in India or China "unscrupulous host" is a redundancy.
The Spam E-Mail sending may give bad name for your website also Google will ban your site in search.....So please Follow the Instructions to get the Traffic for website in legal and paid Good Method.

you can Implement the Search Engine Visibility Service (SEO) or Traffic Blazer service at low cost here

    Hi im MIke.

Spamming is not a effective way at getting traffic. Firstly because it is illegal and the people that you might attract are not going to be interested in your topic. It will damage your websites reputation. Try different methods such as posting comments on related forums with a link to your website.

Or adding keywords to your site.

    Hope this helped :)
    Hi,

    Is a bad idea.

You can use a website for promote your website, for exemple Mediafindout Journal:

no. spam is viewed as a "bad" thing.

try to publish and promote your site within the forums, blogs, and sites like this one.

obviously, the more inherent is the argument, the more accepted is the message.
Spamming is not effective as well as it could get yourself in serious trouble.
No as 9/10 people including myself automatically empty their spam

  • What happen if we open a spam email but did not send a reply?

Since I don't really know the content of the email in spam inbox, so I open it. What happen if I opened the email. Is this leading me to danger to internet fraud? Did I'll be involved there crime. Sometimes I open spam email to know the content, but I did not reply to it.What happen if we open a spam email but did not send a reply?
99% of the time you are in no danger from opening a spam email. They want your credit card number which means that they want you to reply.

You should be able to see from the sender NAME or the Subject Line that you don't know this person. Don't open anything you don't know or expect. What happen if we open a spam email but did not send a reply?
It is especially dangerous to open a spam email with an attachment. You can get a virus very easily that way. But even without an attachment it is dangerous to open spam if you do not have image blocking because it will let them know you opened the email, confirming yours is a live email address and guaranteeing you LOTS more spam. And of course one should never respond to spam either.

Best thing is to just delete spam without opening.

How do I stop yahoo from sending messages from my university to spam?

Marking them as not spam does not work, they keep getting sent to spam folder, maybe somebody (stupid) else is marking them as such instead of trash or maybe yahoo is ****ing up, I'd just like to tell yahoo what the url and email ending for my university is but yahoo does not provide any contact info. How do I stop yahoo from sending messages from my university to spam?
Add them to your address book, that should do it.How do I stop yahoo from sending messages from my university to spam?
You should create a filter for these mails to have them go to a specific folder, here's how: sign into your mail account, on the left under "check mail" you'll see "folders" (add - edit), click "add" and make a new one. Name it however you like. Click on "options" on your main mail page (in the top right corner), go to "filters", select from the options you are given. That should hopefully take care of your problem.

If it does not help, I suspect that your university may somehow have gotten on Yahoo's blacklist for sending and receiving many mails. In that case go to your university's sys-admin and show him this link:

Is spam meant to be read or really just meant to generate sales of anti-spam products?

Someone calculated that it was so inexpensive to send spam that even if only 1% of recipients bought what was being sold, it would still be cost-effective to send it. However, I receive so much that I estimate that the average person reads less than 1% of the spam they receive.

How do we know, really know, that these organ-enlargement, questionable medication, Nigerian funds, etc., promoters really exist? Could the companies that make money from anti-spam products be secretly behind most or all of the spam, and sending it themselves in order to increase their profits from anti-spam products? Is spam meant to be read or really just meant to generate sales of anti-spam products?
Spam may have started out to be ad-oriented, however nowadays much of it is malware-oriented %26amp; phishing-oriented by the criminal element, as in ID theft, building bot networks, etc.

As for the anti-spam software companies being behind it--doubtful. I have never spent a dime on their products. I use the free ones, there's tons of them available

.Is spam meant to be read or really just meant to generate sales of anti-spam products?
Anti-spam companies are not behind spam

Spamming is very lucrative: as many as 1 out of ever 50 spams can generate a purchase, and so as long as so many idiots continue to give their money to spammers spam will continue to thrive.
